With the same level of detail of ENOV and ENHA, it's a jaw-dropping piece of art. Wonder no more, John Lennon! antwob made an awesome rendition of EGGP, one of the most beautiful airports in England. Imagine there's no payware content, no money to be spent. If you are into GA flying and/or PilotEdge subscriber, this one is a must-download (it's under PEs coverage area).Ī list with some of the best freeware airports ever made for X-Plane 11ĮGGP - Liverpool John Lennon Airport, England It counts with hand-painted textures like ENOV and ENHA, with 1.2m/px ortophotos for the surrounding area and custom vegetation. Oceano is a popular GA airport in SoCal, with only one runway and no control tower whatsoever. L52 - Oceano County Airport, United States It also requires at least 2 GBs of VRAM to run smoothly. Lots of custom-made buildings, hand-made ground textures and breath-taking details. If you show this scenery to any unaware flight simmer, he will probably think that it's a $25+ payware. ENOV is definitely one of a kind when it comes to detail and overall quality.
It's that good!Ĭlick here to visit the official page on the org and download it.Īntwob never stops surprising us with his high-quality - and freeware - content. It is hands down one of the best freeware addons I have ever seen in around 6 years of flight simulation experience. That also makes it quite demanding hardware-wise, so, you need at least 2 GBs of VRAM to run it decently. The detail level is quite impressive for a freeware, given that it took over a thousand hours to be made and the ground textures were hand-painted with an incredible resolution of 5cm/pixel. Every single building there was custom made by antwob, the scenery author. Pictures can hardly do justice to this fantastic GA airfield located in Hamar, a small town in Norway with around 27,593 inhabitants as of 2006. Maybe someone here can direct me to some small freeware business jets. Also cannot locate a modern version of the Learjet for X-plane 11. Oh, another thing.I cannot find certain freeware model planes for X-Plane 11 that are available for either 9 or 10 but not 11. Time might resolve some of my frustrations but for now, I am a bit disappointed, especially with the available freeware planes. Very slow and the instrument panels on many planes are difficult to get to and adjust.Īnyway, I am just venting at this time but there are plenty of unpleasant things wrong with X-Plane 11 that I have discovered that make it very difficult for me to enjoy. I downloaded assorted planes and many of them are missing either the 2D screen or the 3D screen. The voices in MS Flight Sim X are superior to this product and you can actually change the voices. The ATC window with the text uses colors that a normal human can't see clearly. One thing is the ATC voices I don't know which voice is the pilot and which is the tower.
I installed it and I find lots of frustrating things the software offers. I made the decision to purchase X-Plane 11. Stick with it and I'm sure you'll end up having a great deal of fun! Like most things with a learning curve however, a degree of patience is required. X-Plane is a serious sim, but a highly enjoyable one at that. Regarding compatibility.you're usually safe to go back one version (11 to 10, 10 to 9 etc), but don't expect 100% compatibility all of the time. Lockheed_l-1049g_super_constellation_xp1105.zip Here are a few examples to start with (search the file names in the file library): Many are also available with a virtual cockpit. Purchasing it would be the solution but I am not ready to bite the bullet and buy X-Plane 11 at this time. There are some exceptional models available in the file library, with all incorporating a 2D panel (Alt - W).
X-Plane 11 is supposed to be a real serious flight sim in terms of quality graphics and flight characteristics but I can't get convinced using the demo. I still use MS Flight Sim X and I enjoy it even though it is a dated product. I have a lot to learn but using the demo is extremely frustrating since it stops functioning after several minutes so I can't get a good feel for the product.
Some planes are labeled as XP8 or 9 or 10 but not sure if they will install correctly and run well on XP11. Some do not have 2D and 3D cockpits and that makes viewing real frustrating.
I am still questioning what is available for free since I have been looking around on this forum for aircraft and what I have downloaded has been less than stellar as far as quality and details. How far back in versions can I import X-Plane files into the new version 11?
